Frame-by-frame animation can take a long time, and embroidery is among the slowest ways to create coloured images. A feature-length animation composed of nothing but embroidered frames would take an extremely long time. But I thought to myself, if I scaled it down, it would be a project I could do. This took me eight months — most of which was spent embroidering in my free time. I started with an animated sketch of 18 frames on my iPad, then traced it onto a large white piece of fabric. I embroidered each flower, then took pictures and strung the frames together to get this! It was a fun task, and I hope to do more of it in the future.
